SCENARIO: With knowledge of a client’s unique operational characteristic, Tomas and Associates writes a letter requesting that the client be placed on a rate for which they would NOT normally qualify.

ENERGY REPRESENTATIVE TO ATA: “I checked with our rates department and you are correct. Technically, the rate applicability would not normally allow this customer to benefit from the rate but your logic fits the condition. Frankly, I am a little embarrassed that I didn’t come up with the recommendation. It’s the first time I’ve seen this change for this type of situation.”

RESULT: Tomas and Associates’ knowledge of a non-public rate precedents allows our Client to qualify for a lower rate and benefit into the future with a "Best in Class" rate.  

SCENARIO: Tomas and Associates meets with electricity representatives to discuss a competitive bid that has already been presented to the customer and is awaiting a signature. Tomas and Associates has performed its own analysis, which shows the customer will actually pay more than projected. We recommend a different rate structuring (lower rate) based on our knowledge of historical transactions with other customers.   During the meeting, the utility representative and senior utility manager discount our findings and recommendations for reducing rates. The utility resists, so Tomas and Associates takes a different approach and convinces the utility to concede.

CLIENT ENERGY MANAGER TO ATA AFTER RECEIVING REVISED RATE: “That gets us right in there with the rate we were looking for. Thank you for your help.”

RESULT: As a result, the Client saves 22% more than the originally negotiated bid. Tomas and Associates’ knowledge of a non-public rate precedents allows our Client to qualify for a lower rate and benefit into the future with a "Best in Class" rate.

SCENARIO: Tomas and Associates speaks with the national account electricity representative and requests pertinent billing data. The utility representative is not excited about providing the data, as they believe the account is well cared for and fully optimized from a rate perspective.  The utility representative had just recently presented their rate recommendations to the client.

ELECTRICITY REPRESENTATIVE TO CLIENT AFTER THE REQUEST: “Before I send this to Tomas and Associates, I wanted to run it by you first. You know I’m all for doing whatever it takes to save you money, but this is just re-doing what we’ve already done (and confirmed savings). However, I don’t want to suggest not complying with this request if you want me to have (representative) spend some time to redo what we’ve already done.”

RESULT: Client asked the representative to comply with the simple request for information and achieved several hundred thousand dollars in savings. The electricity representative commented to the Client that they were extremely impressed with some of the strategies and ideas presented by Tomas and Associates.
